In this episode of Here and Now:
Dealing with a slightly wild audience, Ram Dass answers questions about how our actions can influence other people’s journey of awakening, what commitment truly is, and how to look at our predicament from different levels.
But what Ram Dass really wants to talk about is three things: God, sex, and dope. He talks about moving beyond the desire for drugs, how people become attached to their sexual expression and what tantra truly is, and defines God to the best of his ability.
Ram Dass ends the evening by singing, “Rejoice in the Lord.” Again, I say, rejoice.
“Beyond all of the patterns of energy - physical, astral, causal - lies God, that which is beyond form. You aim for that, and in the course of it, if you are pure in your aim, you can do nothing which is adharmic, going against the dharma. And if you stay in the flow, in the Tao, in the dharma, then whatever needs to be for you and your fellow human being will be done, even though you may not understand what it is that’s happening to you. Your intellectual awareness of what is going on is not necessary for this journey. It can speed it up and help it, but it’s not necessary.” - Ram Dass

Is anyone else just starting to find his material? What a profound experience it has been listening to him speak and letting his words wash over my soul. He was a pure being of love and for me I feel as though I may never be the same
It’s a beautiful moment isnt it when you find Ramdass and Neem Keroli Baba.
I only found Ramdass at the end of 2019, strangely thats when he died. I had heard the name before but I couldn’t ‘hear’ him. Then I went travelling in 2019 , India, Australian outback, native American Indian reservations as well as many other places but I guess these were the most deemed spiritual places( I was 57yrs never travelled as a youngster) but some of the most spiritual moments happened in the most ordinary places and situations. everyone said I would change. I didnt think I had but when I got back in the november I suddenly started to find and ‘ hear’ the teachings from Ramdass just beautiful. . How lucky are we that all of these recordings exist and there are so many. You can listen over and over and hear something new each time. How I wish I could have met him but I have now not in the physical but in the spiritual. We are all blessed indeed. To be with him in the spiritual realm. 🙏🩷 best wishes to you and your journey.
I’m so happy for you that you found him. He has taught me more than anyone else ever, about how to be in the world. I wouldn’t call him a pure being of love though. I would call him loving, intelligent, smart, educated, well spoken, wise, quick, funny and more than anything else: honest.

His story about his teacher calling him at night is very funny to me, and quite the synchronicity.
Lately I've noticed that my baby has been waking up right as I'm about to fall asleep, no matter if I try to sleep at 9:30 or midnight. I've had to learn to let go of much anger regarding this.
Now the really funny bit is I've been calling my daughters my teachers lately, as no matter how much of an "enlightened being" I may be, they have a way of humbling me and reminding me how I have so much to learn.

He gets testy sometimes. Alan watts also didnt have space for that. They also both are afraid of the end of the world that never came/isnt coming.

I can only speak from my imagination, perhaps he silently gestured in some way. If you want to look at it from a different perspective it was a gift to his audience that we today listening to just the audio may never know, but isn't that a good example of the mystery of life? Perhaps, if we spend more time in the spirit, we will.
